March 21 SHAF Work Day Update

We are well aware of the precautions being taken due to the coronavirus and the concern of it being spread through group interaction. We also are concerned that we have been piling branches from our tree cutting in places where a hay crop is growing, and we need to remove these piles so we do not interfere with the farmer harvesting the hay in these fields.

Therefore we have decided to continue with our Work Day this coming Saturday. As best we can, we will practice social distancing, no group photo, mostly we will be lining up to feed branches into a chipper and there is no need to get close to anyone else. We urge you to exercise any precautions you feel are appropriate. If you are in the group whose age and/or health issues make you vulnerable to the disease, please feel free to opt-out of attending.

If you do attend, please bring gloves, hearing protection, water, and please dress for the weather. We can use a few people Friday night to feed branches into the chipper, which will arrive at the site about 4:30 and we can work until dusk. Saturday morning we will begin around 8:30 and plan to work until 4:00. We usually get a large crowd in the morning and by early afternoon tales off to just a few people. Please feel free to stagger your participation by arriving later in the day, if that suits your schedule, so we can have enough people there all day long.

It is not necessary to let us know you’re attending, but it would be helpful.

Thank you.
