SHAF Members,
Work is scheduled for this coming weekend. We have 2 opportunities for work days. Pick one to attend or both! Friday the 18th, we will work cutting and dragging trees and brush to piles to run through the chipper on Saturday. Friday starts at 4pm and runs until dusk. Saturday the 19th starts at 9am and you may stay as long as you want. We will spend the day cutting more small tress, brush, running this through the chipper and clearing fences.
The location for both days is the Reel Farm, directly across from the entrance to Antietam National Battlefield. Please DO NOT park in the NPS parking lot. You may park in the abandoned farm across Hagerstown Pike from the NPS parking lot, and walk over to where we will be working. We do not recommend parking on the shoulder of the Rt. 65 bypass to the battlefield.
Please bring gloves, tools if you have them, water, a packed lunch, or there are places nearby for food. Dress for the weather, and we will postpone the event if there is steady rain. (Or snow, anything can happen in Maryland in March!) as we just saw. Chain saws are permitted and needed if you desire, and are experienced, but please use it safely! Hand saws, loppers, etc. are fine. Hand tools for taking fence down is recommended, hammers, fence pliers etc. Hearing and eye protection are strongly recommended, we need people to feed cuttings into a large, loud chipper. We look forward to seeing you there.
